How to extract a useful palette from an image
Turn image samples into a practical design palette by cleaning near-duplicates, assigning roles, and checking contrast.
Start with dominant and sampled colors
Dominant colors describe the overall image, while click sampling captures a precise logo, object, or detail. Use both when the important color occupies only a small area.
Remove colors that serve the same role
Near-duplicates make a palette harder to use. Keep colors with distinct jobs such as background, text, primary action, and accent.
Validate the cleaned palette
Test the intended foreground and background pairs, then export the result in the format used by the product or design system.
